The White Hart deer, has been a creature surrounded by mystery. The heraldic symbol and badge of Richard II, this beast is suffused with myth and legend. The parents can be brown – a recessive gene is all that is needed to produce a white calf. The White Hart in Celtic myth is an indicator that the Otherworld is near – appearing when one is transgressing a taboo! Ultimately the white stag is not only a creature of the gods, but is a god himself, symbolizing the creative life force of the universe – sex, life and also death. Wow!
